CONSTRUCTION LITIGATION SECTION

 

DUTIES:  The duties of this position include providing support to six staff attorneys for construction litigation and related matters, assist with file organization and records retention, document management including e-discovery, the case management system, and create reports to track matters handled by the Section. This paralegal position will work as part of a team providing legal services to agencies throughout the Commonwealth.  This position is located in Richmond and reports to the Chief of the Construction Litigation Section.  As with all positions, other duties as necessary or appropriate may also be assigned. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional litigation support knowledge including working knowledge of electronic discovery and related issues, knowledge of court related civil procedure, familiarity with litigation related issues, ability to access databases and Word, and the ability to exercise logical reasoning in decision making.  Because of frequent telephone contact with citizens, other state agencies and outside law firms, excellent communication skills, including a courteous and professional telephone manner, are required.  Candidate also must demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and adjust priorities without close supervision.  Position requires the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.  Candidate must demonstrate leadership skills indicating the ability to work with the Division Deputy, Section Chief, and Administrative Lead and Administrative Managers in accomplishing the day-to-day work of the Section.  The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years relevant experience.
